Einar Oftedal is known for leading teams to reach their maximum potential. He is a community builder by heart and loves to enable and grow talent across both public and private security groups.
Prior to Crosspoint Labs, Oftedal worked as a Vice President at Symantec, NortonLifeLock, and Blue Coat, building up engineering, research, and security teams across the world. Scaling up teams, fostering innovation, and leading emerging technological development are among his key competencies. He has been central in establishing and growing the cybersecurity capabilities at the National Security Authorities in Norway and was part of the team that built the Norwegian National CERT (NorCERT).
Oftedal has been involved in various mergers and acquisitions and sat on both sides of the table. He has been essential for connecting growth strategy, analyzing the options of organic and inorganic expansions.
Dr. Felix Leder has trained specialized teams across the world on cybersecurity and machine learning, driving open knowledge sharing and enabling cooperation and innovation.
Prior to joining Crosspoint Labs, Dr. Leder led R&D teams at Symantec, NortonLifeLock and Blue Coat. He also conducted research projects for global technology leaders like Google, Microsoft, T-Mobile, and Nokia.
Open source and information sharing are close to his heart and Dr. Leder regularly speaks at security conferences across the globe. He has also been involved in Google’s Summer of Code and served 12 years on the board of The Honeynet Project.
Dr. Leder holds a Ph.D. in malware, with a minor in economics, from the University of Bonn in Germany where he conducted his research in cooperation with the Fraunhofer Institute. Persistence and development are key parts of his life, and he has competed in multiple Ironman Triathlon World Championships.
Tor I. Skaar has been working professionally in the cybersecurity industry since 2003. Prior to joining Crosspoint Labs, he was a Director in the Global Protection Labs at NortonLifeLock where he led teams of researchers and developers in cloud-based systems development. He spearheaded the transformation to serverless architectures in Norton and before that he managed threat intelligence in Symantec and Blue Coat.
Skaar also pioneered the development and operations of the sensor network for critical infrastructure at the National Security Authority in Norway, and was responsible for the creation of a state-of-the art operations center.
Skaar holds a M.Sc. in Telematics from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology with a specialization in information security. His master thesis on wireless security was done in collaboration with the SINTEF research organization.
Erlend Oftedal brings application security expertise from his career as a software developer, penetration tester and security architect. He has trained teams in secure development, written open source security tools and worked on various security related products and integrations for clients.
In his career Erlend has worked as a consultant at Bekk Consulting, nSense and F-Secure, consultant and CTO at Blank, and security engineer at Autodesk. Erlend's passion is to help developers write more secure code. He has contributed to various OWASP projects and was a part of starting the OWASP Oslo/Norway chapter, which he has been leading for several years. Erlend is a frequent speaker developer conferences like JavaZone, NDC and OWASP AppSec, and has been committee member of various conferences like OWASP AppSec, NDC and Oslo B-sides.
Erlend holds a Master in Computer Science from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) with a master's thesis in the use of new network technology in parallel database systems.
Armin Buescher combines an extensive expertise in software engineering and research for the strategic development of security technologies. He brings 15 years of experience in the cybersecurity domain to the team; from low-level malware and exploit analysis all the way to cloud and architecture security. His work has resulted in patented technology as well as disclosures of critical zero-day vulnerabilities. Buescher has been presenting his and his teams' findings as a regular speaker at major security conferences & workshops and as a spokesperson in main-stream media.
In his career, he has worked in leading security research & development roles for high-profile cybersecurity companies, including FireEye, Symantec, NortonLifeLock, Blue Coat, and Websense. Buescher has directly impacted core technology architectures, cloud designs, and decision-making through technology evaluations and data analysis. He also guided multiple automation efforts and has leap-frogged projects using cutting-edge technology, like artificial intelligence, deep learning, and network anomaly detection, always considering humans as the weakest link in the security chain. In his last role as Technical Director at NortonLifeLock, Buescher championed the rebuild of threat research capabilities from the ground up.
Buescher studied Computer Science at TU Dortmund and graduated with an M.Sc.-equivalent in 2009 with a thesis on client honeypots.
Morten Kråkvik brings a 360-degree view of security technologies to the team. Prior to joining Crosspoint Labs, he oversaw a team with a broad range of mandates across technologies and architectures as Technical Director at Symantec. Kråkvik was a driver for technology shifts in Symantec, NortonLifeLock and Blue Coat, leading cloud transformation and micro-architectures.
Kråkvik's expertise centers on hunting down attackers in the network and across endpoints. He built the SOC capabilities at one of the world's largest telecommunications companies. Kråkvik received a M.Sc. in information and communications technology from the University of Agder in Norway.
Øystein Fladby has over 15 years of experience in the cybersecurity domain. He brings expertise in designing and building back end systems using cloud services.
During his career working for Blue Coat, Symantec and NortonLifeLock, Fladby has worked as a low level reverse engineer and malware analyst which he utilized to build automated systems for processing and analyzing big data. He has also been leading threat research and incident response teams as well as managing programming teams and projects.
Fladby holds a Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering from Gjøvik University College in Norway and also studied at Edith Cowan University, Perth and the University of Technology, Sydney in Australia.
Richard Eng brings 20 years of experience from the cybersecurity industry to the team. He has worked at all levels of technical roles. His passion is close to hardware and circuit boards, including low-level hardware programming. In his principal roles, Eng has been responsible for guiding technical teams from software development best practices up to design for hybrid architectures that combine cloud and on-premises components. In key roles at Blue Coat, Symantec and NortonLifeLock, he spear-headed the development of endpoint anti-malware engines, network protection appliances, as well as next generation threat detection. Most recently, Eng conducted patent pending research in the blockchain and crypto-currency space.
Eng studied Information Technology at the Polytechnical college of Norway in Bærum and graduated with an Engineer's degree in Information Technology. He collects original arcade circuit boards and legacy gaming consoles, especially from Nintendo.
Bjørn Ove Hay Andersen has seen the last 15 years of cybersecurity from a multitude of angles. He adds his expertise from front-line sales, IT support, and long-time research & development to the Crosspoint Labs team. He is a pioneer in threat hunting who started to write automated hunting tools more than 15 years ago.
Andersen is one of the few people on the planet who have written an antivirus engine and a web browser from scratch. He is an expert on how attacks and malicious code can be packaged and hidden from investigations. Andersen used his experience to modernize the protection components during his tenure at Blue Coat, Symantec, and Nortonlifelock.
Andersen is the team’s swiss army knife, being able to work with almost any programming language and technology. This includes projects around blockchain analysis and Web3.
Bahaa Naamneh has been working at the heart of cybersecurity innovation for more than 15 years. His experience from working at cybersecurity companies in Israel, Europe, and the US is combined with an aspiring entrepreneurial mindset. He understands business and innovation all the way from startups to corporate processes at players like Symantec, NortonLifeLock, Blue Coat, or SafeNet. He has authored and co-authored a plethora of patents in the cybersecurity domain.
Naamneh has a wide experience in threat protection technologies. He combines the talent to go broad for understanding complex systems together with the skills to dive deep into details like assembly kernel code, which he reads like other people read books. He feels at home in any platform from legacy desktops, mobile, web, to embedded. Naamneh joins the Crosspoint Labs team with familiarity with privacy and fintech.
Naamneh holds a M.Sc. in Informatics from the University of Oslo, Norway, and a B.Sc. in Computer Science from the University of Haifa in Israel.
Snorre Fagerland has worked with computer security and threat research for more than two decades, starting as the first dedicated malware analyst with the Norwegian antivirus vendor Norman.
Since then, he has worked with leading computer security companies Blue Coat, Symantec and NortonLifeLock, always with an eye to find better ways to protect the customer against online threats. He has discovered and researched the activity of a long range of malicious actors; research which has gone on to be mentioned in publications such as Forbes, The Economist, and The Wall Street Journal. He is an experienced speaker and media communicator.
Fagerland holds a degree in Electronics Engineering from the Narvik Technical College and a B.Sc. in Physics from the University of Bergen in Norway.
